Humanely Forest & Pasture Raised

The Growing Space is a small farm nestled in a forest, located just outside the pretty town of Morganton, NC, at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Whilst only in our second year, our philosophy is that farming can be done in a way that benefits not only people, but also the natural environment. To this end we use a regenerative approach to raising the animals on our farm; aiming to improve soil quality, biodiversity and water quality through our farming practices. This means we use organic pig feed and inputs, and don't use herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilizers on our pastures.

We have forest-raised heritage pigs and rotationally grazed Katahdin-St Croix lamb. The pigs are 100% organic fed, and rotated through our forest where they forage freely in 1/4 acre paddocks. The lamb are pasture-raised.

We are keeping 35+ acres of the land in forest and pond to maintain wild habitat and resources for foraging, support mushroom cultivation, and protect the watershed feeding Canoe Creek and ultimately the Catawba River.

We strongly believe that community is the foundation for social and environmental health. This means building connections: both between people and between people and nature!
